Alon Preiskel to present at the Annual Session of the American College of Prosthodontics November 2024

Collaborate’s Dr Alon Preiskel explores the impact of DSOs (Dental Corporates) on dentistry at the Marco Island (Florida) event on Saturday November 9 2024.

The last 15 years have seen significant consolidation of dental practices in the USA and Europe, transforming dental care delivery. This presentation examines the key drivers of this trend, different DSO ownership structures, and their impact on dentists and the profession.

Increased regulation, competition, and the promise of generational wealth have led many dentists to sell to corporate groups. These groups often shift dental management from a professional to an industrial model, which can limit clinical freedom and change the nature of the profession. We will discuss how corporate structures affect practice management, enabling business growth but potentially conflicting with clinicians.

To thrive, DSOs must shift their focus from practice acquisition to improving dental care delivery.

At the conclusion of this presentation, the attendee should be able to:

  • Identify the opportunities and key drivers behind the consolidation of dental practices.
  • Describe the main ownership structures utilized by DSOs and their implications.
  • Analyse the primary sources of conflict between management and clinicians within DSOs and strategies to mitigate these conflicts to enhance dental care.
